Aged 27, Janine returned home with a two-year-old son and a steely focus to find a career that would support them both. Soon after, she worked for Village Roadshow in Melbourne and Singapore. After meeting and marrying the love of her life, Janine had two more children. While on maternity leave, Janine decided she wanted control of her own destiny and set about creating her own business.

After a few failed attempts at business, which included publishing and touring comedians, Janine established Boost Juice. She was inspired after a trip to the US, where she saw the juices and smoothies category and realised there was a lack of healthy fast food options here in Australia.

Sixteen years later, Janine has more than 500 stores throughout Australia and in 12 countries around the world, employing more than 8,000 people. Janine and her team continue to grow Boost Juice under the Retail Zoo banner, along with its other operations Salsa’s Fresh Mex Grill, Cibo Espresso and Hatch.

Janine’s leadership style is natural, warm and giving, yet she expects results. Her professionalism and attention to detail has created a high-performance culture in her business, yielding great results. Based in Melbourne, Janine is a working mother of four. Her life is hectic but she balances it with a five-day-a-week yoga regime. She is also “a very average surfer and tennis player” but loves both.
